Sugo Sauce was born as the result of a relationship between Nonna (grandmother) and Nipote (granddaughter). They bonded through Nonna’s teaching of her Classico sugo. She was rigid about her recipe and treated the cooking method, the ingredients, and their interaction with great respect. Throughout the years and while honouring its traditional side, Nipote altered the sugo, seasoned it to Vancouver’s multicultural essence and influences, and released the official brand in 2012. In 2014, Pazzo Chow in Chinatown opened to host and compliment Sugo Sauce as a brick and mortar.

SHIPPING
Pouches are lighter and far less fragile than glass, which makes a huge difference as we ship further distances. They take up less space and require less fuel to move, reducing both our shipping costs and our carbon footprint.
COST & SUSTAINABILITY
While glass feels eco-friendly, the full picture tells another story. Jars require multiple components — the glass (often imported), a metal lid lined with plastic, and plastic labels — all produced and shipped separately. Each element has to be disposed of or recycled individually, which adds complexity and waste.
STORAGE EFFICIENCY
Glass jars are bulky and heavy. Pouches help us save valuable space in storage and transport, allowing us to operate more efficiently and sustainably.
RECYCLING INNOVATION
The good news is that there’s growing investment and innovation in soft plastic recycling. Because our new pouches are made from a single material, they’re easier to process as recycling systems improve — and we’re committed to evolving with that progress.
